Thursday Update:

Tonight: The Office & . . .A brand new episode of LOST!
(Loved The Office last week! And I'm so excited we can continue being Lost!)

Frozen French Fries: Remember those yummy french fries I told you about. . .We had them for dinner again last night, and they
didn't taste as good. Maybe it was a bad batch, who knows? So, try them if you want, and I apologize if they
aren't so great. I was so excited to eat them last night, and I only ate a few. :(

Tasty side dish

We had these with our dinner the other night. . . YUMMY! They are the best frozen french fries I have ever had. So, just in case you need a good side dish to go with your steak or hamburger, this is it. Enjoy!

(Sorry about the fuzzy picture!)

Ogies

I am still off track and Kenyan took the day off work to study for finals, so we went to breakfast. A guy at Kenyan's work (Roger, of Roger's bakery) suggested this place. . . .Ogies.

He even told Kenyan if we didn't like our breakfast he would pay for it!

It's one of those Ma and Pa type places. I felt like we were at a truck stop in a small town. It's one of those places that everyone knows everyone, there's the regulars. And then Kenyan and I walked in, and I felt like everyone turned and was staring because we didn't quite fit in.

But I got over that. We ordered our food. Roger told Kenyan he had to order the breakfast burrito that has this chili verde sauce on it. I ordered french toast too. . . just in case.

That burrito was the best burrito I have ever tasted! It was incredible! Apparently the recipe for this sauce on the burrito is a huge secret, Roger has tried to recreate it himself, but to no avail.

So, if you ever need a good breakfast, go to Ogies. It is on 35th South and Redwood (the East side of Redwood). They are only open from 6am-3pm. Enjoy!

Deal or No Deal

That's right, I braved the open casting call for Deal or No Deal today, and my friend Amy was nice enough to brave it with me. (And as many times as she says she didn't mind and she really did have fun, I still don't believe her...I am in debt for a while to her! Love ya Amy!)

So, here's the story:

We boarded the Trax train, saw a guy dressed as a storm trooper, we were definitely on our way. Got to RC Willey and in line and thought, "It's gonna be a while." The lines were wrapped around like when a new roller coaster opens!

Then, there was a glimmer of hope, we were on the last of stretch of line that reacher the door into the warehouse.

And then we stepped inside.(We were like numbers 2,372 and 2,373.)

More lines, and I'm pretty sure longer than what was outside. So we dropped our camping chairs and blankets outside so we didn't have to keep draggin' those with us.

On we continued. We talked with people around us, observed people, and overheard some interesting conversations. And then we got to the last section of lines and Mr. Deal or No Deal casting director says they are going for a 30 minute lunch break! We didn't get a lunch break, and if we wanted to leave the building, they wouldn't let us bring food back in! No worries, we had drinks with us, peanut butter m&m's, shared a granola bar and a piece of pizza (that's another story).

We finally got to the "Making of the groups" part of the line. (Don't worry that we were going on 7 hours for standing in line!) We were put into groups of 10. And then when we were up they sent us to a table and we each had 20 seconds to impress the casting person.

I made it through to the second round. Then we had to do the same thing again, and the guy said thank you and asked one of the girls in the group to stay. She spoke 4 languages, how do I compete with that?

It was quite the experience, but it was fun to at least try, you never know unless you do.

And then I get home and think of all these other things I could have said or done to improve my chances. Doesn't that always happen? Oh well, I can kick myself over it, I was trying out for a game show with probably close to 10,000 other people. At least we can say we tried. (Thanks for coming with me Amy!)

The Biggest Loser

Do any of you watch The Biggest Loser?

I have one thing to say. . . .Mark is a cry baby! He cries about everything. Last week, my friend Amy and I were texting back and forth while watching the show and commenting about his crying. Every time he would cry I would text Amy, "And again."

I have never seen one man cry so much in my entire life. Anyway, back to what really matters, I'm rooting for Ali to win! She looks so good and has done an incredible job. Go Ali!

A world of emotions

Let me start at the beginning....last Friday I went to a job interview to go teach at the new elementary school being built in West Jordan. I applied for the 3rd grade team leader position.

This morning I had a message on the phone from the principal I interviewed with. I called her back at recess and she told me she would love for me to be at the school, but that they were wondering if I would take the 4th grade team leader position instead!

Lucky for me, she said I could think it over and call her back later today. So, after talking to a numerous amount of people, I was finally able to calm the anxiety and I called her back and accepted the position.

Let me tell you the emotions that have gone on today....let's just say I was lucky to still get anything taught today! I am really excited for this opportunity, still a little nervous, but I'm excited to teach something new. It will definitely keep me on my toes next year.

New Suits

So a couple MONTHS ago we went to Mens Warehouse to get Kenyan a couple new suits. Don't worry that it is now April 7th, and we are still working on getting one of the pairs of pants altered correctly.

I'm not in the pants altering business, but it seems to me, you do what the customer would like you do. Kenyan's tall...he likes his pants a little longer. Now, I know there's all the extra stuff that they know what to do better than we do, but still...you would think after going there six times previously, they would get them right.

On the positive side, they did refund all our money that we've paid for alterations-$22. You would think after buying a brand new suit they would just do that for free, since you usually have to get a new suit altered? Thanks for listening to the ranting and raving.

Cold Remedies?

Anyone else have any good cold remedies? I've caught that nasty cold again and it will probably be around for about two weeks. Someone told me that someone told them (Does that remind you of a Friends episode?) to drink lemon juice and honey. Any other good home remedies that anyone knows about? I would much rather have this go away sooner than later. :)

TeStIng

It is my favorite time of year. The time when I realize I only have 10 weeks of school left! (Only 5 till testing!) And I still have so many things to teach and review with my kids.

I am not a fan of testing. I know what it was like taking tests, I was never a very good test taker myself. As a teacher I have learned that kids learn and show what they have learned in different ways. . . .(i.e. testing isn't for everyone)

Today, I gave a reading test to my kids. It is only a 30 minute test. 5 minutes of being able to figure out what the word means, and 25 minutes of reading stories and answering questions. Right after I said, "You may begin." for the 25 minute section of test I already have kids marking answers! I thought you usually had to read the story first, and then answer the questions. They must be reading unbelievably fast and comprehending extremely well. Why don't they ever read like that with me?
